All Camp Thunderbird staff go through an extensive interview and reference check procss prior to being hired. All Camp Thunderbird staff have a current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.

All Instructors hold a current Standard First Aid certificate, a CPR “C” certificate completed in the last 12 months and a Bronze Cross lifesaving certification. All of our rock climbing programs are run by an Instructor who has successfully completed a two-day Rock Climbing course. All of our swim blocks are supervised by a minimum of two lifeguards with their National Lifeguard Service award from the Lifesaving Society. Many Instructors have guiding certifications, and wilderness or advanced first aid as well.

Every season we have a mix of new staff (first or second year) and more experienced staff (up to six years of experience) to ensure the continuity of our programs.

All Camp Thunderbird Instructors attend our staff training week at the beginning of each season.

A full-time program coordinator, and four group coordinators round out the staff team, providing support, direction, enthusiasm and leadership in all aspects of camp life.
